Setting it up
Players spread inside a square. Two balls, given to players standing well apart.
How it runs
Jog around and pass to anyone with two hands. Ball must not touch the floor. You cannot pass it back to whoever gave it to you. Count the passes before a drop then try to beat the number. Late arrivals just walk in.
What to watch for
- Call for it before you want it, not as it arrives
- Hands up and ready whenever you are moving
- Pass in front of them so they run onto it
Make it easier
- Walk instead of jog
- One ball only
Make it harder
- Add a third ball
- Move to a different part of the square after every pass
What it looks like when it is going wrong
What you can see from the touchline, then the one thing to say about it.
- Calling for it as it arrives, which is too late
- Shout before you want it, not when you need it
- Passing at where they are standing rather than where they are going
- Pass in front. Make them run onto it

The grades that can do it
What U7 rugby allows is the rule this sits under. Regulation 15 is reissued every summer, so the RFU's own rules of play are the ones to read for this season rather than a copy on somebody else's website. Ours included. Read against the RFU's 2026/27 appendices in August 2026.
