End ball
A game sense drill for U7 and up, with where the cones go, how it runs and what to say when it is not working.
Free to read with no account. It works at a pitch with no signal too.

Setting it up
Two teams, a try line at each end. One ball.
How it runs
Touch rules. Score by putting the ball down over the line. Nobody may run with the ball at all, so it can only move by passing. Four minute games. Taking running out of it means everybody has to move into space to be useful, which is the habit you actually want.
What to watch for
- Move as soon as you have passed it
- Get in front of the ball but not offside
- Shout for it when you are free
Make it easier
- Bigger pitch
- More players on the attacking team
Make it harder
- Three steps allowed with the ball
- Two balls at once
What it looks like when it is going wrong
What you can see from the touchline, then the one thing to say about it.
- Everybody standing where they passed from
- Move the second it leaves your hands
- The whole team in front of the ball with nobody to pass to
- Somebody stay behind it. You cannot pass forwards

The grades that can do it
What U7 rugby allows is the rule this sits under. Regulation 15 is reissued every summer, so the RFU's own rules of play are the ones to read for this season rather than a copy on somebody else's website. Ours included. Read against the RFU's 2026/27 appendices in August 2026.
