Two ball chaos
A game sense drill for U8 and up, with where the cones go, how it runs and what to say when it is not working.
Free to read with no account. It works at a pitch with no signal too.

Setting it up
Two teams, two balls, one each. Try lines at both ends.
How it runs
Both teams attack at the same time with their own ball. Touch rules. Nobody gets to stand and watch because their own ball is always live. Five minute games. It is noisy and slightly mad. They will love it and it fixes ball watching in about two sessions.
What to watch for
- Know where your own ball is at all times
- Do not chase the other team's ball, it is not yours
- Use the space they have left behind them
Make it easier
- Take the second ball out for a few minutes
- Bigger pitch
Make it harder
- Three balls
- Narrower pitch
What it looks like when it is going wrong
What you can see from the touchline, then the one thing to say about it.
- Both teams converging on whichever ball is nearest
- That one is not yours. Where is yours?
- Heads down on their own ball, missing the empty half
- Look up. They have all gone one way

The grades that can do it
What U8 rugby allows is the rule this sits under. Regulation 15 is reissued every summer, so the RFU's own rules of play are the ones to read for this season rather than a copy on somebody else's website. Ours included. Read against the RFU's 2026/27 appendices in August 2026.
