Four goals
A game sense drill for U7 and up, with where the cones go, how it runs and what to say when it is not working.
Free to read with no account. It works at a pitch with no signal too.

Setting it up
A square with a two metre goal in the middle of each side. Two teams.
How it runs
Score through any of the four goals. Touch rules. Because there is no fixed direction they cannot just charge one way, they have to look around and pick. Five minute games. Watch how long it takes before somebody works out that turning round is allowed.
What to watch for
- Look for the goal nobody is guarding
- Turning back the way you came is allowed and often best
- Talk to each other about which one you are going for
Make it easier
- Two goals only
- Bigger square
Make it harder
- Add a fifth goal in a corner
- Shrink the square
What it looks like when it is going wrong
What you can see from the touchline, then the one thing to say about it.
- All of them charging at the nearest goal
- Look at all four. Which one has nobody in it?
- Nobody turning back because it feels like going backwards
- Behind you is a goal too. Use it

The grades that can do it
What U7 rugby allows is the rule this sits under. Regulation 15 is reissued every summer, so the RFU's own rules of play are the ones to read for this season rather than a copy on somebody else's website. Ours included. Read against the RFU's 2026/27 appendices in August 2026.
